Jamal Ouariachi

Jamal Ouariachi (1978) is the author of four novels and collection of short stories. De vernietiging van Prosper Morèl, his debut novel, was published in 2010 and was followed by his second novel Vertedering in 2013. Vertedering was nominated for the BNG Bank Literatuurprijs and De Gouden Boekenuil. His most recent novel Een honger (2015), tackles the psychological landscapes and former relationship of Aurélie and convicted peadophile Alexander Laszlo. Een honger won the European Union Prize for Literature in 2017. Ouariachi’s chapbook for the Verzet series is titled The Tourist Butcher (translated by Scott Emblen-Jarrett) and offers horrifying stories of murder and butchery, told in a language that is light and graceful.
