In The Queue for the Loo with Harmen Van Straaten & Laura Watkinson

Who’s in the loo? Find out with illustrator Harmen Van Straaten and Laura Watkinson!

If you’ve ever wondered who’s in the bathroom, illustrator Harmen Van Straaten and his translator Laura Watkinson can tell you! They’ll even show you how to make your own drawings once they solve the mystery of who’s in the loo.

Poor Bear is in a bit of a spot – he’s desperate to use the loo but there’s already someone in there! Pretty soon he’s joined by Pig, Elephant, Tiger, Penguin, Monkey, and Giraffe…and you guessed it, they all need the loo too!

Harman Van Straaten is an award-winning author and illustrator from the Netherlands. He has over 400 books to his name and has won both a BIB Golden Apple and an IBBY Award. Having started out studying Law, Harmen got bored and turned back to illustration – thank goodness!

Laura Watkinson is an award-winning and highly sought-after translator. She is the founder of the Dutch chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, and her passion for children’s literature knows no bounds. She lives and works in Amsterdam.

Presented in partnership with Dutch Literature Foundation.
